Iiex Excelsa (Excelebration) winning a maiden at Cork

Excelebration Guineas entry is EBN eyecatcher

Iiex Excelsa (3f Excelebration-Holly Blue, by Bluebird) went into many notebooks when winning at Cork at the weekend and she looks set to be another smart flag bearer for Excelebration this season.

The Fozzy Stack-trained filly, sporting the silks of top South African owner Gaynor Rupert, was well -backed when scoring on her three-year-old debut in this seven-furlong contest.

Her entries include the G1 Irish 1,000 Guineas and the EBN made her one of the week’s eyecatchers, commenting that: “She was reported as idling in front and being rather green still, so she should have plenty of improvement in her.”

After the race, rider Chris Hayes said: “Iiex Excelsa is a nice filly. She got a break after a poor run at the Curragh and had been working very well. It wasn't ideal to make all and she was loafing about a bit but her attitude was brilliant in the end.”
