Exciting Winner for Dylan Thomas

Former champion racehorse Dylan Thomas was represented by a promising winner at Caulfield on Boxing Day when lightly raced filly Return Journey (3f Dylan Thomas x River Lena, by Spectrum) defied a lack of interest from punters to score a dominant victory. The Tony Noonan trained filly was having just her third race start following on from a debut placing and then a maiden win at Kyneton at the start of the month, but she handled the rise in class in her stride. Despite being bred to handle a trip, Return Journey showed abundant dash to race up on the pace and draw clear, winning the 1000 metre sprint by nearly two lengths. A filly with a bright future, Return Journey was a $55,000 Inglis Premier purchase for Laurel Oak Bloodstock, plucked from the draft of Torryburn Stud. Bred by Grant Sheldon, she is the first winner for River Lena (IRE), a half-sister by Spectrum to English Group III winner Pictavia from the family of Group I winners Irish Prize and Hatoof.
