Foxy’s Edge 19th Winner For Competitive Edge
Foxy’s Edge (2f Competitive Edge x Street Sailing, by Street Boss) became the 19th winner for impressive first-crop sire Competitive Edge on Wednesday evening at Penn National when winning under the lights.
As has been a normal occurrence for Competitive Edge’s runners, Foxy’s Edge went straight to the lead after the break in the six furlong affair and never looked back. The filly kept a lead of over a length during much of the running then showed her courage to hold off a late running rival in the final half-furlong to win by a neck for trainer Gregory Sacco.
Bred by Destiny Oaks of Ocala, the filly was purchased as a 2-year-old by her racing owner Ron Occhino. Foxy’s Edge is the first foal out of three-time winner Street Sailing, who hails from the family of Grade I winners Moanin and El Brujo.
Foxy’s Edge becomes the 19th winner for Competitive Edge to tie him for the third most winners of any First-Crop Sire. Competitive Edge has quickly proven to be among the top sires of his generation with his four stakes winners leading the First Crop Sire table.
