Ernest Hemingway (Galileo) Winning The G3 Curragh Cup At The Curragh

G3 success for Galileo colt Ernest Hemingway

Ernest Hemingway (4c Galileo-Cassydora, by Darshaan) looks to have a bright future in staying company after relishing the step up in trip to 1m 6f when winning the G3 At The Races Curragh Cup on Sunday.

The Galileo colt, who won a maiden by 10 lengths on his debut last season, saw off the G1 Irish St Leger winner Royal Diamond to land this G3 contest by five lengths to the delight of trainer Aidan O’Brien.

“When he ran over a mile and two Joseph (O’Brien) said he was crying out for a mile and a half,” the winning trainer told irishracing.com. “It suited to run today and to take our time with him. He's a very good mover and probably loved that ground.

“He showed good acceleration today and I'm delighted with him. Obviously that's the first time that he's stepped up in distance. He's a beautiful horse – a big imposing type.”
