Grade One Double for Shanghai Bobby
Shuttling to South America for promising young sire Shanghai Bobby has proven a winning exercise with the former Champion 2YO delivering a Grade I double in Brazil last weekend.
The Grade I Grande Premio Major Suckow on Saturday was won by Habile Bobby (2c Shanghai Bobby x Habile Bianca, by Mastro Loreonzo), who made it two wins in as many starts when he scored a half length victory.
Habile Bobby covered the five furlongs on turf in a brisk 56.86 seconds.
He is the first winner for his dam Habile Bianca, a three time winner from a family with very little Black Type, so Shanghai Bobby has done a good job to upgrade the pedigree to deliver Grade I success.
On Sunday, the Grade I Grande Premio Jockey Club Brasileiro went the way of another Shanghai Bobby colt with Inforcer (2c Shanghai Bobby x Eggendorf by Roi Dormand) leading home an exacta for his sire in beating Memory of Love (2c Shanghai Bobby x Delirio de Amor, by Eyjur).
Inforcer strode clear to win the 1600 metre turf contest by three and a quarter lengths ending a frustrating run of minor placings.
It was his first win from five starts with two second placings.
Inforcer is the second winner from stakes-placed Eggendorf, a grand-daughter of Grade II winner Vichysoisse.
Habile Bobby and Inforcer are among six stakes-winners for Shanghai Bobby and are his first Grade I winners.
