Cill Anna (Imperial Monarch) Doubles Up Over Hurdles at Wincanton

Imperial Monarch Mare Doubles Up In Style

Thursday saw the Paul Nicholls-trained Cill Anna (5m Imperial Monarch - Technohead, by Distinctly North) gain back-to-back wins in fine style under Harry Cobden.

Bought by Nicholls and Tom Malone for £115,000 after winning her point-to-point for Colin Bowe, she finished third on her hurdle debut in December and went on to score at Warwick at the end of the month. The bay raced prominently on Thursday and led from two out, racing clear to win by seven lengths.

A step up in class may now be on the cards for Cill Anna, who is owned by the Stewart family and was bred by Ms Marisa and Michael Bourke. A €38,000 store purchase, she comes from the first crop of Beeches Stud sire Imperial Monarch.
