Inverleigh exciting debut winner for Excelebration
Newcomer Inverleigh (2c Excelebration-Sommorell, by Fast Company) landed a decent maiden with ease at Leopardstown on Thursday night.
Trained by Ger Lyons for Antoinette Kavanagh, the Excelebration colt powered home a length and a quarter clear of stablemate Burmese Waltz to win in eye-catching style.
The Racing Post commented: “Some very nice types here and a heat that is likely to produce plenty of winners…. INVERLEIGH came from the back of the field and quickened up well when switched to the outer in the straight. He was still very green .… He showed a pretty impressive change of gear and he could well be exciting.”
Lyons added: “He's as green as grass and very light so you might see him again or you might not. The last furlong was his best so it will be lovely going seven with him but he's a work in progress.”
Inverleigh was bred by Hannah Patterson.
