Miss Villanelle Becomes The Latest Winner By Ivawood

Ivawood Filly Makes All To Gain Maiden Win

A front-running ride said Miss Villanelle (2f Ivawood - Parabola, by Galileo) gain her maiden victory at Newbury on Tuesday.

The Charlie Hills trained filly had shown good promise on debut in May, when finishing second. Now racing over seven furlongs, Kieran Shoemark rode her to make all and stayed on gamely in the final furlong, as she was ridden out to win by a length and a quarter.

A half-sister to dual Group 3 winner Medicine Jack (Choisir), Miss Villanelle was bought by BBA Ireland for €60,000 as a yearling for owner JH Widdows and partners.

Miss Villanelle becomes the latest winner by first season sire Ivawood, who stands at Castle Hyde Stud for a fee of €5,000.
