Ivatheengine (Ivawood) winning a maiden at Windsor

Ivawood Sires 1-2 In Windsor Maiden

Ivawood’s excellent run with his first runners continued on Monday, as Ivatheengine (2g Ivawood - Sharp Applause, by Royal Applause) scored over six furlongs at Windsor.

The David Evans-trained bay was sent off favourite, having impressed on debut when finishing a close second to subsequent Listed winner Flippa The Strippa over five furlongs. Oisin Murphy rode his mount to track the leaders gaining the advantage over a furlong out and was driven out to beat promising newcomer Alabama Whitman (Ivawood) by a length.

"Ivatheengine ran very nicely the first day at Chepstow behind Flippa The Strippa, so that was good form. He's still quite green but he was ready for another race today. There was a bit left in the tank.” Oisin Murphy, jockey.

Owned by E.R. Griffiths and bred by D. Byrne, Ivatheengine is the first foal out of the mare and comes from the top family of Kodiac, Invincible Spirit and Pride Of Dubai.
