Lancaster House (Galileo) Wins His Second Gladness Stakes at the Curragh

Lancaster House Repeats Gladness Stakes Success

Saturday saw Lancaster House (5c Galileo - Quiet Oasis, by Oasis Dream) land back-to-back runnings of the Group 3 Gladness Stakes at the Curragh.

Sent off favourite on his seasonal return, the Aidan O’Brien-trained bay raced in midfield and began to make headway from three furlongs out. Hitting the front over a furlong out, he quickened clear under Ryan Moore to win by two and a half lengths, as Current Option (Camelot) kept on in second.

Commenting on the winner, O’Brien said, “Lancaster House is a very solid and consistent horse. He likes a nice bit of ground and finished it out well.”

Owned by Mrs Gay Smith, Lancaster House was recording his third Stakes win overall. He completed the first leg of a double on the card for breeder Barronstown Stud, with stablemate Wordsworth (Galileo) landing the ten furlong maiden an hour later.

Debut winner Glounthaune and Alleged Stakes victor Broome (Australia) added to a four-timer for the Ballydoyle team.
