Listed Win Heads Super Sunday Double For Ivawood

Sopran Ival (2f Ivawood - Reign, by Elusive Quality) ran out an impressive winner of Sunday’s Listed Premio Ubaldo Pandolfi at Capannelle to become her sire’s second Stakes winner in his first crop.

A maiden winner last month, she showed the benefit of experience when breaking smartly and creating a strong pace in the six furlong contest. She raced clear to score by five lengths, as her rivals fought for minor honours.

Trained by Bruno Grizzetti for Leonardo Ciampoli, Sopran Ival was bred by Ms M Davison and Ms D Kitchin.

Meanwhile, in Milan, Nerone (2c Ivawood - Khyber Knight, by Night Shift) provided Bruno Grizzetti with a double as both owner and trainer when making a winning debut over six furlongs.

Ridden prominently throughout, he stayed on gamely to win by a length, leading home a 1-2-3 for his stable. Bred by the Pocock Family, Nerone was a 50,000gns foal buy by Castlehyde Stud, where his sire stands.

Sunday continued a promising start by Ivawood’s first two-year-olds, which also includes Listed winner Chares and Albany Stakes fourth Alabama Whitman.
