Mastercraftsman Filly Tops at NZB National Weanlings
A dashing grey filly by Mastercraftsman was the top priced offering during the the first session of the NZB National Weanling Sale at Karaka in New Zealand on Monday.
Consigned for sale by Trelawney Stud, the star filly from High Chaparral mare Queen Cha Cha made $160,000 to the bid of Brice Perry Bloodstock and is a half-sister to Australian Group I winner Suavito.
"She’s a half-sister to a serious mare in Australia at the moment,” said Bruce Perry.
"She is a lovely athletic filly and I knew her mother quite well.
"She was bought for James Chapman of Jamieson Park and she’ll go back to their place. They’ll hold onto her and either sell her as a yearling or be very happy to race and breed from her.”
Coolmore based sires provided the next two highest priced lots with a Rip Van Winkle filly from Miss Krisdel making $120,000 for Curraghmore Stud, while a Pierro filly from Prestigious Miss made $110,000 for the same vendor.
