More Big Sales for Competitive Edge
Demand for the progeny of exciting young sire Competitive Edge continued at the 2019 Fasig Tipton Midlantic 2YO’s in Training Sale this week with two colts selling for $210,000 and $200,000, representing stunning returns for a stallion that stands at a fee of $5,000 in 2019.
Consigned by Paul Sharp as agent, the colt from Comanche Princess breezed a furlong in 10.2 seconds and was secured by Sallusto and Albino for $210,000. He is the second foal of his dam, who is a daughter of stakes-winner Channing Way.
Breezing slightly quicker in 10.1 seconds was the colt from Tareks Dream that made $200,000 for Classic Bloodstock when snapped up by SBM, Agent for B & C Horses.
A Group I winning juvenile by Kentucky Derby winner Super Saver, Competitive Edge has made his mark on two year-old sales this year with a steady stream of his offspring selling for $100,000 or more.
“Competitive Edge was a push button horse from day one and was exceptionally talented. He had early speed, a fantastic temperament and is a very good looking individual – all the attributes to make an impact as a stallion, just like his sire,” said his trainer Todd Pletcher.
