More black-type success for Champs Elysees
Six days after Billesdon Brook (3f Champs Elysees-Coplow, by Manduro) captured the G1 1,000 Guineas, Champs Elysees had another black-type Flat winner at Ascot on Saturday.
The Roger Varian-trained Barsanti (6g Champs Elysees-Silver Star, by Zafonic) looked better than ever when scoring on his seasonal debut for owner Sheikh Mohammed Obaid Al Maktoum in the 1m 4f Listed Buckhound Stakes and he will return to Ascot for the G2 Hardwicke Stakes at the Royal Meeting.
“Sheikh Obaid wants Barsanti to go for the Hardwicke, so that was a perfect prep race and hopefully he can go one better. He seems a stronger animal this year and we look forward to Royal Ascot,” assistant trainer T J Kent told the Racing Post.
