Mullins’ Low Sun shines for Champs Elysees

Four-year-old Low Sun (4g Champs Elysees-Winter Solstice, by Unfuwain) scored on his hurdling debut for Willie Mullins at Bellewstown on Thursday evening. Ruby Walsh sported Susannah Ricci’s famous silks aboard the Champs Elysees gelding as they justified odds-on favouritism to win the 14-runner event. The winner, a Juddmonte home-bred who scored on the Flat for Pascal Bary in France, was sold for 65,000gns at Tattersalls in October. “He did stay well. He kept going well. Let's hope it's onwards and upwards,” said Walsh. The Racing Post’s Analysis noted: “A winner over 1m2f in France last September, he was making his hurdling/stable debut here and showed a good attitude in the finish. He clearly has a very decent engine and could have a nice future….”
