New Stakes-Winner for Choisir
Peter Creighton’s United Syndications had a lot of fun with former stakes-winning race mare La Bella Dame and they’ve had just as much with her offspring including Le Bonsir (6g Choisir x La Bella Dame, by Royal Academy), who landed his first Black Type victory at Moonee Valley on Saturday when capturing the Listed MVRC Drummond Golf Stakes.
Trained by Mick Price as was his mother, Le Bonsir turned in a career best performance to win the 1200 metre sprint by a length and a half for Michael Walker, his overall record now eight wins and six placings from 20 starts with prizemoney nearing $300,000.
It was his second run back from a spell and followed on from his first up win at the same venue last month in easier grade.
“He was probably a little fitter today and they put the race on for him,” Price said.
“I thought he (Michael Walker) rode him well and he just scoots around here. It was a fantastic result for a horse of his calibre.”
Le Bonsir was bred and retained to race by United Syndications and is a half-brother to Group III winner Damselfly being one of four winners from Group II winning Royal Academy mare La Bella Dame.
Le Bonsir is the 55th stakes-winner for Choisir, who stands this year at a fee of $27,500.
