Owner’s Suite Newest Winner for Competitive Edge

It was a new winner for Competitive Edge on Saturday when Owner’s Suite (2f Competitive Edge x Street Trick, by Street Sense) put a pair of seconds behind her by breaking her maiden at Laurel Park by 3¼ lengths.

Owner’s Suite jumped out of the gate quickly and pulled away to open a length on the field only a few strides out of the gate. Running over 5½ furlongs on the dirt, the filly was pushed around the far turn by a rival but jockey Xavier Perez still had enough horse under him to pull away from the field in the stretch.

Trained by Paul McEntee for Tolo Thoroughbreds and Run Pony Run LLC, Owner’s Suite had finished second in her past two outings before Saturday’s victory. Bred by Hunter Valley Farm, Keith Lazarz, and Dermot Ryan, Owner’s Suite is the second foal out of a half-sister to Grade III winner Hierro and stakes winning Cherokee Triangle.

A brilliant racehorse when winning his first four starts by nearly 29 lengths, Competitive Edge has proved to be among the best of the freshmen sires this year with 18 winners, including four stakes winners.
