Pretty Edgy (Competitive Edge) Breaking her maiden at Laurel Park

Pretty Edge 26th winner for Competitive Edge

Competitive Edge registered his 26th winner on Saturday when Pretty Edge (2f Competitive Edge x Lily’s Spark, by Mineshaft) won on debut for LBR Racing Stable.

Trained by Richard Sillaman, the bay filly made her debut over six furlongs on the dirt at Laurel Park. Pretty Edgy gunned it for the lead right out of the gate and set the pace throughout the race. She shrugged off a challenger in the turn and started to build a lead in the stretch, pulling away to win by 7¼ lengths under jockey Lauralea Glaser.

Bred by Aschinger Bloodstock, Pretty Edgy is the first foal out of Lily’s Spark. The mare is a half-sister to multiple graded stakes winner Prayer For Relief and Listed winner Twin Sparks. The filly also comes from the family of Grade II winner Miss Sunset.

Competitive Edge crossed with A.P. Indy granddaughters has produced four winners, including two of the young stallion’s four stakes winners.

Grade I-winning sire Competitive Edge is among the leading freshman sires with 26 winners and four stakes winners, tying him with Triple Crown winner and studmate American Pharoah.
