Progressive Colt Adds To Excelebration’s Stakes Tally
The Ger Lyons-trained Inverleigh (3c Excelebration - Sommorell, by Fast Company) gained a well deserved black-type success when taking the Listed Committed Stakes at Navan on Sunday.
A winner on debut last August, he followed up with Stakes placings on his next two starts and dropped down to five and a half furlongs on his three-year-old return. Ridden towards the back of the field by Donagh O’Connor, he was last at halfway and showed an impressive turn of foot to close on the leaders approaching the final furlong. Staying on well, he asserted in the closing stages and beat the favourite The Irish Rover (No Nay Never) by a length and three quarters on the line.
Bred by Miss Hannah Patterson, Inverleigh is owned by Antoinette Kavanagh and Michael Downey. He is the first foal out of the mare, an unraced half-sister to Group 1 winner Ransom O’War and a host of black-type producers, including Australian Group 1 performer Spieth.
Excelebration commands €8,000 at Castlehyde Stud this season.
