Promising 3YO for Choisir

Perennial favourite Choisir had a trio of promising maiden three year-old winners on Tuesday but one of them was a standout in exciting speedster Malkovich (3c Choisir x Mabkhara, by Anabaa)

Prepared by Bjorn Baker, Malkovich has been an eye-catcher at the barrier trials on numerous occasions and was a hot favourite to cast off maiden status in the 1100m maiden at his third start.

A close third at Randwick last month when resuming from a spell, he took plenty of improvement from that run and bolted in today running a slick 1:02.89 seconds when cruising clear to win by four and a half lengths.

Malkovich was bought by Darby Bloodstock for $240,000 at the Inglis Ready 2Race Sale last year from the draft of Woodpark Stud, who had pinhooked him from Inglis Classic for $85,000.

He is a half-brother to four winners including Group III placed duo Seewhatshebrings and Wandabaa from the family of Group I winners Rewaaya and Sense of Occasion.
