Promising Juvenile Winner For War Command

The Paul Cole-trained Charlemaine (2c War Command - Newyearresolution, by Arch) built on a promising debut to win the five furlong maiden at Brighton on Saturday.

Third at Saint-Cloud at the end of March, the bay was sent off second favourite under Raul Da Silva, who rode him to chase the leader. Asked to challenge two furlongs from home, he led a furlong later and was ridden out to score by a length and three quarters.

Da Silva commented after the race, “Charlemaine has done everything right at home and he did it easily today. He liked the ground and is very straightforward.” Bred by Haras Du Mont Dit Mont, Charlemaine is a half-brother to Listed winner and Group 2 placed Rock Me Baby (Rock Of Gibraltar).

War Command, the sire of 28 winners in his first crop, commands €8,000 at Castlehyde Stud in 2019.
