Isaan Queen (War Command) winning a novice stakes at Lingfield

Queen in Command for War

Unstoppable War Command had more first-crop success at Lingfield on Wednesday when Isaan Queen (2f War Command-Dundel’s Spirit, by Invincible Spirit) made a sparkling winning debut for trainer Archie Watson.

Sporting Chris Hirst’s colours, the juvenile - who boasts an entry in York’s G2 Lowther Stakes - saw off some well-connected rivals to win the six-furlong novices’ event on debut.

“She came for a racecourse gallop here a couple of weeks ago and I thought that based on that effort and what we’ve seen at home she deserved an entry in the Lowther,” Watson told At The Races. “I’m glad she’s done it today. She’s very professional but I think she got a bit lonely in front and I’m sure the form will work out alright.

“She’s a good bodied filly and War Command’s a stallion I like. She’s a filly I loved at the sales, she’s got a fair bit of scope and constitution going forward.”

Isaan Queen was bred in Ireland by Con Harrington.
