Quercus (Tiz The Law) Wins Parx Msw

Quercus Latest Tiz The Law Winner

Tiz The Law registered another new winner Tuesday when the stakes placed Quercus (2f Tiz The Law x Bellflower, by Cherokee Run) won a Parx Maiden Special Weight.

Coming off a third in the Shamrock Rose Stakes three weeks ago, the Tom Coulter homebred was ready to run the second the gate opened in the 6 ½ furlong dirt race. She entered a duel almost immediately and fought it out with She’s Justified throughout most of the race.

The top of the stretch saw Quercus win that battle and none of the others had enough to challenge her. The Tiz The Law daughter showed why she was the heavy favorite as she pulled away to win by 3 ½ lengths for trainer Bruce Kravets.

Quercus has been a consistent runner for her connections this year, placing in three of her four starts and already having blacktype to her name since making her debut in late October.

Quercus is one of seven winners and three stakes performers out of the stakes placed Bellflower. That mare also produced the stakes placed duo of Jumpmaster and Ianthe. Stakes form runs throughout the page with each of the three dams named producing at least two stakes performers with multiple daughters doing the same.

In all, Quercus is one of 21 stakes horses under her first three dams.

Bellflower had a colt by Practical Joke last year.

Tiz The Law’s 21 winners puts him fourth on the freshman sire list with his $54,727 average earnings per starter leading all freshmen along with his five stakes winners, two graded stakes winners, and four stakes performers.
