Record-breaking black-type win for Dylan Thomas

The admirable Caspian Prince (7g Dylan Thomas-Crystal Gaze, by Rainbow Quest) had his 15th career success on Friday night when winning the Listed Mercury Stakes at Dundalk.

Trained in North Yorkshire by Roger Fell, the Ballygallon Stud-bred son of Dylan Thomas broke the track record when seeing off 13 accomplished rivals in the five-furlong event included former G1 winners.

Winning rider Declan McDonogh commented: “He’s a fast one for a Dylan Thomas. It was straightforward. “He saw it out well because I went a good pace and he kept finding plenty. I think he goes to Dubai so hopefully I can keep the ride on him. He’d be a nice ride at the Carnival.”
