Group-placed Broken Stones (2c Requinto-Positive Step, by Footstepsinthesand) made light work of some decent opposition to win a Newmarket conditions event on Saturday for trainer Kevin Ryan.
A stylish York maiden winner on his debut (pictured), the first-crop Requinto colt had finished a close third in the G2 July Stakes at Newmarket on his only other start.
The 200,000gns breeze-up sale graduate, bred by Highpark Stud, looks set for a return to Group company.
The Racing Post commented: “BROKEN STONES had marked himself out as a decent juvenile when winning impressively on debut, and had backed that up with a fine effort when third over C&D in the Group 2 July Stakes earlier in the month. Sent the the front from the gates, he travelled smoothly in front and galloped his rivals into submission. While his main mark-rival failed to shine, this was a taking success by the winner who holds an entry in the Group 2 Gimcrack Stakes. There should be more to come, especially over further.”
