Requinto Filly Adds Stakes Success To Fine Record

Mild Illusion (2f Requinto - Mirror Effect, by Shamardal) continues to delight connections, as she gained black-type when winning Friday’s Listed Bosra Sham Fillies’ Stakes at Newmarket.

Jonathan Portman’s bargain buy was beaten a whisker in the £150,000 Tattersalls October Auction Stakes last time out and came into the six furlong contest with two career successes to her name. Josephine Gordon initially rode her to chase the leader, asserting from the four furlong pole and asked her to quicken approaching the final furlong. Staying on gamely, she scored by three parts of a length.

Owned by the Old Stoic Racing Club and bred by Marston Stud, Mild Illusion is the sole winner out of Mirror Effect, a half-sister to useful sprinter Courageous. She becomes Requinto’s third Stakes winner of the season, following Great Scot’s impressive Group 3 success and Only Time’s win in the Listed Premio Giuseppe De Montel.
