Saratoga Stakes Success for Verrazano

Progressive colt Archidust (3c Verrazano x Chilling Effect, by Gold Fever) claimed his second Black Type victory when capturing the $100,000 Mahony Stakes at Saratoga on Wednesday.

Trained by Jorge Navarro, Archidust won his previous start on turf in a stakes race on July 14 and backed it up with another commanding win on the grass.

He stalked the pace and powered to the line to win the five and a half furlong sprint by three lengths beating Neverland Rock (3c No Nay Never x Jessica Rocks, by Fastnet Rock).

Archidust was a $300,000 OBS March 2YO Sale purchase and has the overall record of four wins and two placings from eight starts with prizemoney topping $160,000.

"I think he's a pretty nice horse,” said winning rider jockey Javier Castellano. “I rode the horse at the beginning of the year and he's a completely different horse now. He's made a lot of progress. When I first rode him, he was a little immature mentally, but today he was focused. I liked the way he did it today."

Archidust is a half-brother to stakes-placed Bach Hamilton from stakes-placed Chilling Effect.
