Son Of Imperial Monarch Impresses On Stable Debut
Bumpy Johnson (4g Imperial Monarch - Country Flora, by Alflora) made an impressive start for the David Pipe stable when running out a seven length winner of Saturday’s bumper at Fontwell.
From the second crop of Beeches Stud sire Imperial Monarch, the Sean Leahy-bred chesnut made a promising debut in a four-year-old maiden at Lismore, before falling at the second last.
Subsequently purchased privately by Brocade Racing, he was partnered by Tom Scudamore on reappearance and raced towards the back of the field in the early stages. Improving into third after the halfway point, he produced a challenge approaching the two furlong marker and led a furlong later, racing clear to win with ease.
