Son Of Ivawood Gains Deserved Maiden Success

War Of Clans (2g Ivawood - Precautionary, by Green Desert) gained a well-deserved maiden victory when scoring over six furlongs at Brighton on Monday afternoon.

The Karl Burke-trained bay was strongly supported in the market, having been placed twice previously. Harrison Shaw rode him to track the leader, asserting readily when asked two furlongs from home and was ridden out to win by a length and a half.

Owned by Mrs Elaine Burke in partnership with Ontoawinner, War Of Clans is a half-brother to the highly-rated Curiosity (High Chaparral), who finished second in the Britannia Stakes at Royal Ascot. The pair were bred by M Phelan out of Precautionary, a half-sister to top sprinter Prohibit.

War Of Clans becomes the latest winner by first season sire Ivawood, himself a top-class two-year-old, before being placed in both the Irish and English Guineas. His progeny have won 11 races to date and include Albany Stakes fourth Alabama Whitman.
