Ya Boy Ya Wins His Bumper Debut

Son Of San Frontieres Wins First Start Under Rules

Ya Boy Ya (5g Sans Frontieres - Mountainviewqueen, by Norwich) made a winning start to his career under rules when taking the two mile and three furlong bumper at Downpatrick on Monday.

The Colin Bowe-trained bay was last seen winning between the flags at Ballingarry, having previously won a five-year-old maiden in March by four lengths. Taking on a competitive field of five rivals, he was ridden to chase the leaders by James Kenny and improved to take second from halfway, producing a serious challenge from over two furlongs out. Digging deep under pressure, he led inside the final furlong and beat the more experienced Stowaway Sarah by a length, as the pair drew seven and a half lengths clear of the field.

Ya Boy Ya was bred by Mrs Breda Spillane and is a half-brother to Ask The Tycoon, another winner of his point-to-point and bumper.
