Son Of Sans Frontieres Gains First Win Over Hurdles

The Evan Williams-trained Treasure Dillon (5g Sans Frontieres - Treasure Trix, by Flemensfirth) gained his first win over hurdles at Chepstow on Thursday.

Second last time out under Mitchell Bastyan, the pair were sent off favourite and positioned themselves behind the leaders for much of the race, over just under two and a half miles. Leading three flights from home, they drew clear approaching the last and stayed on well to win by five lengths.

Williams commented after the race, “I like Treasure Dillon and he's still a baby. I've perhaps expected too much of him and he's been second a few times.” Williams bought the winner for £70,000 at the Tattersalls Ascot Sale last March, after winning his sole point-to-point start for Pierce Power. Bred by Mrs Jennifer Cox, he is the first winner out of the dam, a half-sister to dual Grade 3 winner Splendour.
