D Day Becomes The Latest Winner By War Command

War Command Colt Bolts Up At Newbury

The Richard Hannon-trained D Day (2c War Command - Outshine, by Exceed And Excel) showed the benefit of experience when winning his second start at Newbury on Tuesday.

Slowly away on debut last month, he broke smartly in Tuesday’s seven furlong contest and was ridden to make all by James Doyle. Drawing clear entering the final furlong, he was ridden out to score by three and a quarter lengths, as newcomer Lost Empire (Footstepsinthesand) stayed on for second.

Bred by the late Mrs IL Sneath, D Day races in the colours of Mrs J Wood and was part of an incredible five-timer on the card for the Hannon team. He becomes the first winner out of his dam, a half-sister to a Listed winner, from the family of top two-year-old Dawn Approach and multiple Grade 1 winner Joshua Tree (Montjeu).
