Winning Start To Hurdle Career For Talented Son Of Dylan Thomas

Brandon Castle (6g Dylan Thomas- Chelsey Jane, by Galileo) made a winning start to his hurdle career at Plumpton on Monday.

A six-time winner on the flat, including the valuable Queen’s Cup Handicap, he was bought by trainer Neil King and owner I.A. Low in October. Sent off second favourite for the two mile Novice Hurdle, he made most of the running under Bryony Frost and had a clear advantage by the third last, but had to fight off a challenge by favourite Collooney (Yeats) approaching the final flight. Battling gamely under pressure, Brandon Castle would not admit defeat and prevailed by half a length on the line, with all of 24 lengths back to the third horse.

Brandon Castle was bred by Barry Walters and is a half-brother to Listed winner Certain Lad.
