High Chaparral provided the second highest price during the second session of the 2013 NZB Premier Yearling Sale when his colt from blue-blooded mare Our Echezeaux fetched $620,000 for Pencarrow Stud.
The half-brother to Group winners Dolmabache and Pure Elegance was snaffled by leading New Zealand bloodstock investor David Ellis, who has enjoyed success with this family previously through multiple Group I winner and successful sire Darci Brahma.
A daughter of champion sire Zabeel, Our Echezeaux is a sister to the dam of Darci Brahma and a three-quarter sister to the dam of Caulfield and Melbourne Cup winner Ethereal, so it’s a quality packed family that will ensure this stunning colt has a big future at stud if he measures up on the track.
Other good results for High Chaparral on Tuesday included colts from Queen Caelia and Sorestan that sold for $380,000 and $360,000.
Overall, High Chaparall had 24 yearlings sell at an average $223,333 with big drafts of his yearlings still to be offered in Australia at the Inglis Premier and Australian Easter Yearling Sales.
