Aussie Stakes-Winner for Duke of Marmalade

An imported son of Duke of Marmalade, four year-old French bred gelding Big Memory (4g Duke of Marmalade x Nicara, by Nebos) gave Tony McEvoy a feature win at Moonee Valley on Friday night when taking out the Listed Torney Night Cup.

The promising stayer was last seen finishing second in the Listed ATC Australia Day Cup at Randwick and improved on that form to score a dominant three length win for Craig Williams in the 2500 metre test of stamina.

A minor winner in France and fourth in a German Group III before being sold to compete in Australia, Big Memory has won three races and placed five times from 12 starts earning just shy of $200,000.

Clearly a stayer on the up, Big Memory is entered for the Group I ATC Sydney Cup on April 19.

He is a half-brother to stakes-placed New Fan and is the best of four winners from stakes-winning Nebos mare Nicara.

He is the tenth stakes-winner for Duke of Marmalade, whose oldest Australian progeny are three year-olds.
