Progressive mare Essence of Success (4m Encosta de Lago x Mosi Au Tunya, by Deputy Minister) has been busily working her way through the grades and made it a winning hat-trick when saluting in fine style at Warwick Farm on Saturday.
The Gai Waterhouse trained mare was ridden a confident race by Nash Rawiller, sitting up with the lead and surging home to win the Benchmark 80 event over 1600 metres by a length.
“She’s a top class mare in the making,” Waterhouse said.
“She hasn’t raced for a month and was still too good. She’ll stay a lot further than that and is a really exciting mare.”
Nash Rawiller was also impressed with the lightly raced Gooree Stud homebred, who has now won five of 11 starts and over $120,000 in prizemoney.
“She just keeps improving and is a horse going in the right direction,” he said.
“The thing I like about her is that she gets the job done each time we raise the bar.”
Essence of Success is a half-sister to stakes-winners Yes Boss and Laguna Lake and is one of six winners from the good producing Deputy Minister mare Mosi Au Tunya (USA).
Gooree Stud have enjoyed much success with the progeny of Encosta de Lago, their star performers by the sire including Group I winner Northern Meteor and current stakes-winners Kiss From a Rose and Needs Further.
