The most expensive Australian yearling sold in 2012 by Dylan Thomas is Not Listenin’tome (3g Dylan Thomas x Flame of Sydney, by Encosta de Lago), who showed he has the ability to match his good looks when scoring an explosive win in the Group III MRC Zeditave Stakes at Caulfield on Saturday.
Second to Zoustar in the Group I VRC Coolmore Stud Stakes in the spring, the Hawkes Racing prepared Not Listenin’tome kicked off his autumn campaign with a four length win in the 1200 metre sprint
It was the first stakes win for the gelding, who has now won three times and finished second twice from just five starts earning $227,000 in prizemoney.
“He’s one out of the box, that was awesome,” said winning rider James McDonald.
“They went a nice clip and he found plenty, he’s a very nice horse. That was his first-up run, he’s going to improve a stack.”
Not Listenin’tome is probably destined for Hong Kong in the future as he was a $270,000 Inglis Easter purchase for George Moore Bloodstock from the Arrowfield Stud draft and runs in the ownership of leading HK trainer John Moore.
For the time being however, he will remain in Australia and has an entry for the Group I ATC TJ Smith Stakes on April 12.
The 12th stakes-winner worldwide for Dylan Thomas, Not Listenin’tome is the second winner for stakes-winning Encosta de Lago mare Flame of Sydney, who was a very speedy juvenile from the family of Group winners Only Words, What Can I Say and Darci Be Good.
The last crop of Australian bred foals by multiple Group I winner Dylan Thomas were born last spring.
