Group One Goals for High Chaparral Filly

A half-sister to Group II winner Gypsy Diamond by High Chaparral, well bred filly Veloce Forte (2f High Chaparral x Gypsy Tucker, by Zabeel) and she may well give leading trainer John O’Shea a very nice send off before he departs to Darley after the Sydney Autumn Carnival.

Veloce Forte was sent out favourite for the 1200 metre juvenile maiden at Kembla on Monday and cruised home an easy winner for James McDonald.

Ridden patiently, Veloce Forte unleashed a good turn of foot over the final furlong to zoom past the leader and win by more than a length.

Entered for the Group I ATC Sires Produce Stakes and Champagne Stakes, Veloce Forte is bred on the exact same High Chaparral x Zabeel cross as Champion 3YO It’s a Dundeel and looks a stakes filly in the making.

A homebred for Ron Finemore and John Leaver, Veloce Forte is the second foal of minor winning Zabeel mare Gypsy Tucker, whose first foal is classy three year-old Gypsy Diamond, winner of the Group II MVRC Jeep Fillies Classic and fourth in the Group I VRC Oaks.
