Australian bred filly Dylan’s Promise (3f Dylan Thomas x Madonna, by Riggoletto) scored a resounding win in the Group II Betting World Oaks at Clairwood in South Africa on Sunday.
The Charles Laird trained filly was a stakes-winner last season at two and has gone on this season, taking this 2400 metre staying test by a commanding three and a quarter lengths.
A $35,000 purchase for Heritage Bloodstock from the Erinvale Thoroughbreds draft at the 2011 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale, Dylan’s Promise has won five of 13 starts and is the best Southern Hemisphere bred offspring for her sire Dylan Thomas, who is headed for Chile later this year.
Foaled and raised at Coolmore, she is the best of four winners from Group I placed Rigoletto mare Madonna, who is the grand-dam of Our Miss Jones, who finished second in the Group I SAJC Australasian Oaks.
Madonna produced a High Chaparral filly last spring and is due to foal again to the same sire.
