Thunder Gulch

Bred by Peter Brant and owned by Michael Tabor, he became the first Kentucky Derby winner to stand at Ashford and their first Champion Sire when he topped the table in 2001.

Partnered by Julie Krone to win the King’s Bishop Stakes at Saratoga, he went on to sire seven Grade 1 winners, headed by dual Eclipse Award hero Gio Ponti.

Gone far too soon after a meteoric ascent up the stallion ranks, he was crowned Champion 2YO Sire in 2015 and secured his legacy as the sire of Triple Crown hero Justify.

A brilliant racehorse, he became Champion 2YO Sire with his first crop in 2015, a group that included the following year’s Kentucky Derby winner Nyquist.
