Classic Empire’s Sacred Beauty Gives MyRacehorse Newest Winner
In what has been a big weekend for Coolmore American freshmen sires, Classic Empire scored his second winner in less than 24 hours when Sacred Beauty (2f Classic Empire x Consecrate, by Pulpit) broke her maiden.
Owned by Spendthrift Farm and MyRacehorse, Sacred Beauty went off as the race favorite and soon showed why.
Jockey Assael Espinoza sent her straight to the lead out of the gate in the one mile race on the synthetic Golden Gate surface. The filly was confronted with a challenge in the final three furlongs when Uptown Rhapsody sought to challenge her but she shrugged off that runner as they raced into the stretch.
Sacred Beauty was kept to her work in the stretch to win by 1 ¼ lengths as the heavy favorite to kick off the Golden Gate card for trainer Andy Mathis.
The filly was bred in Kentucky by Merriebelle Stable out of the stakes winning Consecrate. That mare is one of two stakes winners for her own stakes winning dam Curious Conundrum alongside Harlan Street.
Consecrate foaled a Munnings filly the year after Sacred Beauty was born as well.
Sacred Beauty becomes the 16th winner for Classic Empire after closely following Rocket Dawg’s impressive victory at Churchill Downs yesterday.
