Her Laugh Practical Joke Wins Untapable S

Practical Joke Filly Best in Untapable

It was a juvenile filly stakes double for Practical Joke on Saturday when Simply Joking’s victory was followed up by Her Laugh (2f Practical Joke x Truth Goddess, by Point of Entry) easily winning the Untapable Stakes to jump on the Road to the Kentucky Oaks.

Returning to the track for the first time since breaking her maiden on debut last month, Her Laugh was stretched out two furlongs farther for this race run just over a mile.

A fast filly, Her Laugh took advantage of her spot close to the rail to bolt to the lead and settle inside as she set the pace. She was happy to gallop relaxed under Axel Concepcion as another horse spent most of the race just behind her.

That pressure disappeared in the middle of the far turn as Her Laugh started pulling away. The race was all but over in the stretch when Her Laugh proved to be too strong for the rest of the field. Concepcion did just enough to keep his mount focused in the final sixteenth as Her Laugh won by an eased down 2 ½ lengths.

Trained by Whit Beckman just like Simply Joking, Her Laugh races as a homebred for Grantley Acres.

This is the first foal out of the winning Point of Entry mare Truth Goddess, who is one of two winners from three to race out of Team Hansen. That mare is a half-sister to the multiple Grade I placed She’s Cheeky and to the dam of multiple stakes winner My Friend Emma.

This victory earned Her Laugh 10 points on the Road to the Kentucky Derby and makes her the fourth juvenile stakes winner of the year for her sire.
