$170,000 for Acrobat Filly
The first crop of weanlings by young bargain priced Fastnet Rock stallion Acrobat have been well received and he achieved his best result to date at the Inglis Great Southern Sale this week when a filly from Spiced sold for $170,000.
Bred and sold by Ponderosa Park, the filly was purchased as a pinhook for Karaka by Hallmark Stud/Michael Kirwan and is a half-sister to two winners including smart lightly raced Hong Kong winner Lucy in the Sky.
“She’s an absolutely gorgeous filly, a queen, and I just really liked her profile and pedigree, by Acrobat out of an Exceed And Excel mare,’’ Kirwan said.
“I thought she was one of the best fillies in the sale. Was she good buying at $170,000? I’ll tell you next year after we’ve offered her as a yearling!’’
She is fifth fourth foal of well related Exceed and Excel mare Spiced, a half-sister to Group III winner Brave Mead, stakes-winner Solemn and Group III placed Honeywine along with this season’s promising juvenile filly Aemelius, who was stakes-placed last Saturday and runs in the Group I BRC JJ Atkins this Saturday.
It’s a very solid Black Type family featuring Group I winners La Volta and Mighty Boss, with this lovely Acrobat filly sure to please at Karaka next year in terms of her page and her type.
Acrobat has been super popular covering 366 mares in his first two seasons and remains at the fee of $13,750.
