$220,000 Merchant Navy Classic Colt
The Monday session of the 2021 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale in Sydney produced a great result for Merchant Navy with a colt from Bodhi Blue fetching $220,000.
The colt was knocked down to George Moore Bloodstock / Team Moore Racing and was consigned by Newgate Farm.
A powerful chestnut with a sprinter’s physique, he fits the profile of other purchases at this sale by George Moore that will be targeted towards new season two year-old racing in the spring.
The colt is the first foal of Bodhi Blue, a winning half-sister by Northern Meteor to Group III winner Punch On.
He was a successful pinhook having been sourced for $100,000 from the Inglis Australian Weanling Sale last year by Binalong Bloodstock.
Merchant Navy has had 18 yearlings sell through the first two sessions for $1,465,000 and has had other good results with a colt from Roz making $180,000 for Newgate Farm when bought by Graham Begg Racing / Rohan Hughes Thoroughbred Services and a filly from Lady Chelle making $160,000 for Redbank North when bought by Kavanagh Racing.
