$260,000 Pride of Dubai Colt Tops Perth Magic Millions Winter
The Magic Millions Perth Winter Yearling Sale received a big boost with the late entry of the half-brother by Pride of Dubai to Group I BRC JJ Atkins Stakes winner King Colorado and he duly sold accordingly.
Offered by Willow Dale Farm, the chestnut colt from stakes-winning import More Aspen (USA) was purchased by leading Sydney trainer Bjorn Baker Racing/K Cheng for $260,000, which set a new record price for this sale.
He is the fourth living foal of blue-blood More Than Ready mare More Aspen, whose only foal to race is exciting two year-old Kingman colt King Colorado, who has two wins from three starts and promises to be a spring carnival star for the Maher and Eustace stable.
Bjorn Baker said he was excited about what the future may hold for today's record-breaking youngster.
"I had a client who was interested in the horse and he is a really nice colt," Baker said.
"We were both impressed when we saw him. "We will get him over East and get him going and see what he can do! It's a nice bonus that he is a Magic Millions yearling as well. "(King Colorado) is a very good horse no doubt about that. He will be able to give this colt a real kick along."
Pride of Dubai has had an outstanding season siring seven Australian stakes-winners with seasonal earnings topping $12million and stands at a fee of $27,500 this spring.
