$300,000 Mare in Foal to St Mark’s Basilica Tops Inglis Digital March
The Inglis Digital March (late) Sale this week was topped by quality mare Piccadillies, who is in foal to Champion 3YO and exciting young sire St Mark’s Basilica.
Consigned by Coolmore, Piccadillies is a half-sister by Uncle Mo to champion sire Fastnet Rock and was purchased by Irish-based Marlhill House Stud for $300,000.
Speaking on behalf of the Marlhill team, Coolmore’s John Kennedy said: “Piccadillies’ family is very well known and very dear to the hearts of Eddie and Eimear Irwin of Marlhill House, given they’re partners in Fastnet Rock.
“They’re also very fond of St Mark’s Basilica, having a weanling half-sister to Storm Boy by the stallion so they’re delighted to be able to acquire a mare in foal to him.’’
Piccadillies had a yearling filly by Pierro sell at Magic Millions this year for $280,000 to Rohan Hughes/Grahame Begg Racing and she has a two year-old colt also by Pierro called Piccaderro that is in work with Ciaron Maher.
