$360,000 for Merchant Navy Colt
The half-brother by Merchant Navy to Champion 2YO Filly Away Game was tipped as something special by Segenhoe Stud’s Peter O’Brien and he proved popular at the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale on Tuesday selling for $360,000.
The Segenhoe consigned colt from top producer Elusive Wonder was bought by Michael Freedman Racing / Julian Blaxland Bloodstock.
He is a half-brother to multiple Group winning $3.4 million earner Away Game and stakes-winner Modern Wonder as well as three other winners.
“I believe this is the best Merchant Navy I have seen and the absolute image of his father,” said Peter O’Brien, who should know given Merchant Navy was foaled, raised and also sold at Inglis Easter by Segenhoe.
Merchant Navy has made a pleasing start to his stud career already siring three metropolitan winners plus Group III placed Drisana.
