$375,000 for Storm Boy Half-Brother - Strong Start for Pierro
Pierro had five yearlings offered during the first session of Magic Millions at the Gold Coast on Tuesday and all were sold with the half-brother to Magic Millions 2YO Classic favourite Storm Boy (2c Justify x Pelican, by Fastnet Rock) selling for $375,000.
Consigned for sale by Coolmore on behalf of Morning Rise Stud, the colt from Pelican was bought by Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott/Kestrel Thoroughbreds, the same purchasers that secured Storm Boy last year for $460,000.
This colt is the second foal of well-bred metro winning Fastnet Rock mare Pelican, a daughter of New Zealand Horse of the Year Seachange. Pelican produced a filly by St Mark’s Basilica last spring and is back in foal to Justify.
Top seller for Pierro on the first day was a $400,000 colt from Salina that was consigned by Kulani Park and bought by GW Racing Pty Ltd. Bred on the super successful Pierro x Redoute’s Choice cross, he is the second foal of Salina, a placed daughter of stakes-winner Quayside with his next two dams Group II winner Quays and Group I winner Pontal Lass.
