$380,000 So You Think Filly at Karaka
Duncan Ramage of DGR Thoroughbreds knows a lot about former champion racehorse and now leading sire So You Think, having purchased him for $110,000 at Karaka back in 2008 and during the second session of NZB Karaka Book 1 on Tuesday he paid $380,000 for a daughter of the 10-time Group I winner.
Consigned by Beaufort Downs, the filly is the second foal of winning Exceed and Excel mare Lagertha, a half-sister to stakes-winner Zarantz and stakes-placed Zonte.
So You Think has been popular at Karaka this year with all seven of his yearlings offered so far being sold including a colt from another Exceed and Excel mare in Humble that made $270,000 for Lyndhurst Stud when bought by Hong Kong based buyer K Kwan.
He was a successful pinhook having been sourced from the Lustre Lodge draft at the Inglis Australian Weanling Sale for $155,000 last year.
