$500,000 for First Australian Bred Wootton Bassett
The first Australian bred crop of yearlings by outstanding Group I sire Wootton Bassett are selling this week at Magic Millions and the very first into the ring made a splash when selling for $500,000 to renowned judge Craig Rounsefell of Boomer Bloodstock.
Consigned by Bhima Thoroughbreds, the stylish dark brown filly is a half-sister to French Group III winner Naranco and is from imported Galileo mare Patsy Boyne (IRE), a placed three-quarter sister to Champion racehorse and outstanding sire High Chaparral with the family packed with European Group winners including French Oaks winner Fancy Blue.
“She’s just a quality filly, she’s got a huge international pedigree off a great-producing farm and she’s actually for an American client (Catalyst Stable) and she’ll be racing in America,” said Craig Rounsefell.
“With that pedigree and her type, we didn’t know if she was going to be in our range, but I guess early in the sale helped, which is good because she’s a beautiful filly.”
Wootton Bassett sired three Group I winners in 2023 – King of Steel, Bucanero Fuerte and Unquestionable - and has 35 entries for this sale.
